Nature-Based Professional Development for Educators

At Teaching Through Nature, we are committed to empowering early childhood educators with the resources necessary to confidently create inclusive, nature-based learning environments that support all learners.

Let us assist you in bringing the beauty of nature into your early childhood education settings!

We provide professional development workshops in-person for all early childhood educators, including those in schools, child care centers, home-based care, homeschooling groups, camps, and parents.

Professional Development

Teaching Through Nature is currently offering in-person workshops for the early childhood community.

All of our workshops count as professional development hours toward New Hampshire's yearly requirement, with each workshop counting as 2 hours.

Our Workshops

Math & Science in the Natural Environment: You will learn easy ways to implement math and science discovery with outdoor exploration. Lessons and activities will incorporate easy-to-find, natural materials. We will provide teaching tips on how to engage students and build on their outdoor curiosity.

Bringing the Outdoors In: We will detail ways that nature can be brought inside. Teachers will learn that nature-based learning does not need to be left outdoors, that it can increase overall learning, and that it can be visually calming and pleasing to students.

Navigating Nature for Our Youngest Learners-Infants & Toddlers: Implementing nature-based learning into infant and toddler care can be difficult due to the age of the students but we share easy and safe ways to make nature a consistent part of their learning environment.

Making Student Connections with Nature: A hands-on workshop focused on helping young children connect with nature through play, exploration, and everyday outdoor experiences. We will explore how meaningful connections with nature supports early learning, creativity, and well-being---and how to intentionally cultivate those moments in your own teaching practice.

Certificate of Attendance and Other Resources

All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. Each certificate will provide the name of the workshop, the attendees' name, the instructors' name(s), their signatures, and the number of professional development hours earned for the workshop.

A copy of the certificate should be shared with the state for individual professional development portfolios

* It is the attendees' responsibility to forward the certificate to the correct state office for recognition---not Teaching Through Nature's responsibility.

Additionally, all attendees will receive a binder of resources including workshop highlights, activity ideas, materials lists, recommended books, and contact information.
